My Book #hoop at the #Women'sFinalFor in #NASHVILLE!
I'm Speechless! (and that doesn't happen often!)
I had the honor of having my images from my coffee table book, hoop, as the backdrop for the award ceremony at the WBCA (Women's Basketball Coaches Association).  My images were displayed randomly over a period of two hours.

SO excited to be asked to be a Nikon Ambassador for United States for the second year in a row!   Love my Nikon Cameras, and love representing the very best camera company in the world!

I am so honored to be an Ambassador for the greatest company in the world, NIKON!

They recently sent me the Nikon Coolpix P7800 to try out. (Thank you Nikon!)

The first thing I noticed about it was, how light it was and how great it felt in my hands. It’s compact/small and fits into my pocket or small section of my camera bag. Which is a HUGE plus as my bag is usually pretty full.   : )

It’s pretty easy to use and it has a beautiful Nikkor zoom lens - 28mm to 200 mm. It’s an F2 lens which is great in low light.

Here are some other features I like about the camera:

The flip out LED screen – this is great when you are shooting something that is taller than you or when you want to shoot something low to the ground.  It allows you to see what you are shooting and still be in a comfortable shooting position.

Menu is easy to use

Image stabilization – It has VR image stabilization built in that minimizes the  effects of camera shakes.  Which really helps you to get sharp images.

Great to use for shooting video as well, Full HD 1080p videos! I like to use it for “B Roll” when shooting a short film or event.  I’ll put my main camera, Nikon D4 or D800 on a tripod and roam with the P7800.  It’s unobtrusive which is great for me as it helps me to not be noticed while filming in public spaces.

The P7800 is so light and compact, I can easily take it anywhere.   When I’m at home, it’s nice to have for those quick candid moments, especially since it’s great in low light!  Which comes in handy as some of my favorite subject matters to photograph are our dogs!

Great Image quality

I like that since it has a flip out LED screen, you can protect the screen by stowing it away when you are not using it.

Camera Modes  - I don’t usually use scene modes, but there are several modes in this camera that are really fun to use.   Below are a couple photos I took illustrating them.

Selective Color - You can select a color you want to highlight and the rest of the photo is black and white.

Pet Portrait - one of my favorite subject matters is our rescue dog, Georgie!)

Landscape (be sure to try out the panorama feature too!)

Many things goin' on

Right now my life has been taken over with the release of my book- "hoop: the american dream". Have you been keeping up with the shooting hoop blog that follow me on my adventure? While we were making this incredible trek across the U.S. shooting hoops, we kept notes and now I get to blog about every day of this adventure. Today was remembering when we adopted *three* dogs. Kim and I read this blog and still can't believe that we actually made this trip, shot all of those basketball hoops, adopted three dogs and lived to tell the tale!

On September 3, 2013, I met Jason Collins at the 2nd Annual A Plus Youth Program, “Principles to Live By Gala”. The mission of the A Plus Youth Program is to use sports as a vehicle to provide the educational resources and character development necessary for student-athletes to succeed in life. We had a great night there and I signed and sold books, and posters and met some new friends.

Next week, I am teaching at creativeLIVE Photo Week. The best and brightest photographers working today, connecting you with your heroes in real time. Broadcast over six days, Photo Week is one of the most ambitious events the photography industry has ever seen.

I am getting settled into my new home. Lots of moving, remodeling, unpacking. Had a big birthday party (50!) at my new place last month with many friends flying in from all over to help me celebrate. Will blog about that adventure later.

Tonight, I am busy signing books at the Seattle Storm game. Woo Hoo.

My dream!

My new book, hoop the american dream, is on sale now on Amazon! I traveled across American photographing unique basketball hoops and childhood hoops of some of the most revered players of our time! (Shaquille O'Neal, LeBron James, Jerry West (he wrote my forward!) and many more! They gave me quotes and childhood memories to go along with some of the photos. It's a beautiful coffee table book and a portion of the proceeds are going to the Pat Summitt Foundation, supporting the fight against Alzheimer's (she is also in the book).
