The idea came about last spring as a group of friends were talking about their dogs.
People talk to their animals in a different way – a way that's honest and trusting and unconditional. What if they had people write letters to their dog explaining what joy those four-legged friends have brought and why they were so loved? It might just make a great book, they thought.
The result published last month, "A Letter to My Dog: Notes to Our Best Friends," has brought rave reviews from People Magazine, "Good Morning America," and The Huffington Post.
The three friends who made it happen are Lisa Erspamer, Kimi Culp, and Robin Layton – a former Seattle P-I photographer who took the iconic picture of Ken Griffey Jr. after his game-winning slide in the 1995 playoff against the Yankees.
"Robin Layton is that rare combination of photojournalist and artist who can render a writer's words superfluous. Her eye is not only unerring, it's uncanny. - J. Levesque"
